nXZEN Bluetooth headset with noise reduction at CES 2006

I really liked the design of this headset from Gennum, it is small, the shape is appealing and the colors are really nice. I tried one on but we will have to wait for a review unit to know how efficient is the noise reduction, cool feature. We’ll keep you posted. More at Nxzen.com

Well looky
here, the extremely compact Motorola H5 Miniblue might finally eliminate the dork factor from those Bluetooth headsets
– ok, probably not. At only 33 x 41 milimeters and an incredibly light 7.4-grams it trounces the 10-gram Nextlink Bluespoon AX2 but
still comes up short of knocking off the 5G as the "world’s smallest." The Miniblue is equipped with an
inner-ear speaker and mic which "picks up your voice through your ear canal." It ships with a recharging base
which also doubles as protective shell when not in use. Talk time is a rather anemic 1.5 hours or confusingly, "up
to 7.5 hours using the included portable charging base"…what the!? Expect these to drop sometime in the first
half of 2006.

Mogo Mouse

If you’re like any normal person, you hate your laptop touchpad, you know wireless mice are a drag and a normal mouse is just too bulky. Newton peripherals’ Mogo Mouse comes to the rescue! The tiny thing resembles a network card and fits into the laptop’s card slot for easy storage and quick charging (less than an hour). Bluetooth enabled, it fits nicely into the palm of your hand. We didn’t get a chance to check it out for ourselves, but Samsung’s got a new slightly more multimedia
mid-range centric device that goes by the name of the a930, and will feature video and music on demand, Bluetooth,
MicroSD, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and dedicated playback buttons. Expect this in the near future (think: Q1 2006).

Moto and Oakley thump out the A2DP O ROKR

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

Motorola and Oakley went back to the drawing board for the successor to the RAZRWIRE’s "Bluetooth headset glued to a pair of
shades" throne. Turns out they forgot to do much drawing, and their resulting O ROKR product looks (and feels)
just as weak this time around, though thankfully they’re adding A2DP for piping stereo tunes from your spankin’ new ROKR E2. Oakley
also claims they’re totally upping the ante as well with High Definition Optics or some such marketing speak, but
unless they’re bringing us a few sets of 720 or 1080 pixels when these launch in the first half of the year, we’re
going to withhold the term HD from some mere UV blocking shades.

IPEVO’s new FLY.1 handset and Xing speakerphone for Skype

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

IPEVO is showing off some new Skype compatible products: the FLY.1 wireless handset and
the Xing speakerphone. The Xing USB speakerphone does about as much as its title implies, and has four speakers for
reaching the deep recesses of your conference room. The FLY.1 does the wireless thing with a USB base station and packs
in a small screen for your numeric viewing pleasure. It feels good in the hand, but doesn’t really pack in many
surprises. Read on for a pic of the Xing and a some live shot of the FLY.1 next to IPEVO’s slightly more inspired, if
tethered, FREE.1.
